Advocacy training and capacity building
I have led advocacy training and capacity building for UK NGOs, civil society organisations and NGO country programmes in Africa. I have delivered BOND’s UK  Corridors of Power course (on influencing the UK political system) and both open and tailor-made training for INTRAC on advocacy and policy influencing and supporting Southern advocacy. Whilst working as Oxfam’s regional campaigns and advocacy manager covering 9 African countries I supported country programmes to strengthen their advocacy capacity.

Strategy facilitation and campaigns planning
I have facilitated strategy development and campaigns planning for international NGOs,  including Oxfam International, CARE,  Global Witness and the Dutch Consortium on Rehabilitation. I also have considerable experience of working with civil society and professional organisations at the country level in Africa and Asia, including the Forum for African Women Educationalists (in Rwanda, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia), the Federation of International Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (Ethiopia, Uganda, Nigeria, Cameroon, Nepal).

International networks and cross-cultural strategy development
I have considerable experience of working with international networks (on financing for development, education, maternal and newborn health, HIV and AIDS) and with organisations implementing global strategies across a range of countries (Oxfam International, CARE, Federation of International Gynaecologists and Obstetricians).

Monitoring and evaluation/impact assessment
I have developed monitoring and evaluation and impact assessment frameworks for key campaigns and advocacy strategies as well as projects and programmes. I have completed impact assessment training delivered by INTRAC. At Oxfam I commissioned and managed external evaluations of Oxfam humanitarian campaigns and advocacy which fed into future strategy development. Whilst working at Ingeus (an international welfare-to-work provider) I developed my understanding of outcomes-based funding and approaches to contracting out services using these models.

Policy analysis and user involvement
I have a wide range of policy analysis experience spanning international development and humanitarian assistance/protection to social policy across Europe. I have developed approaches to involve service users/beneficiaries in policy analysis and development of policy recommendations through focus group discussions and action learning. I delivered training on labour market policies for local government officials at the OECD training centre in Trento, Italy and have written policy briefings and articles on a range of topics (see resources)

Coaching and leadership development
I am a qualified coach (Personal Performance Coaching Diploma from the Coaching Academy) and enjoy working with individuals  and teams to develop their confidence and capability and improve their performance. I have coached staff from Ingeus, Oxfam GB, Restless Development, Publish What You Fund as well as individual clients who are re-assessing their careers or have experienced redundancy.
